WE
IMPACT
POSITIVELY

In 2024, it’s time for WIP to go even further and consolidate our concrete actions and expand on those actions to get into the details.

Here are the first steps taken in our successful helmet lines, where we are working hard every step of the way to reduce our CO2 impact as well as brand new decisions made to make our impact as low as possible:

  • Forward WIP is a proud member of 1% for the Planet which exists to ensure the prosperity of our planet, our oceans and future generations.

  • 1% for the Planet is a worldwide movement driven by companies that have decided to donate 1% of their sales to environmental preservation associations.

  • This is a new will at Forward WIP. Push our development to be even more sustainable and many concrete actions have been implemented in 2024. Water Protection is also about ocean protection
  • ECO CORK Tech: WIP's R&D department has succeeded in integrating up to 20% cork from industrial waste.

  • Known for its shock absorption characteristics, cork comes from the bark of oak trees with a rapid regeneration cycle.

  • The first helmet in the sport industry using recycled cork.

  • The first 100% recyclable biosourced helmet in the sports industry

  • Pushing further our commitment for sustainability, the inner padding is made of 100% recycled plastic (PET).
  • Forward WIP supports the association Sea Shepherd which fights for the conservation of the oceans. Dedicated to the protection of marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

  • The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is a non-profit international maritime non-governmental organization dedicated to the protection of marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

  • It is particularly involved in the fight against illegal fishing, whaling, dolphin hunting in Japan, pilot whale hunting in the Faroe Islands, seal hunting and overfishing linked to industrial fishing.

  • Among the associations supported by Forward WIP within 1% for the Planet, we also find Tara Ocean which explores the ocean to better understand it, and shares its scientific knowledge to raise public awareness.

  • WIP supplies Tara Ocean with WIP products including Light Sailing Short 2.0, Hydrotechs Shoes and helmets.
  • At WIP, we're proud members of 1% for the Planet, where 1% of our sales are dedicated to environmental causes. This year, our focus is on supporting the Association pour la Sauvegarde du Léman 🇨🇭🇫🇷, dedicated to preserving Lake Geneva.

  • Based on the shores of Lake Geneva, where all our product prototypes are regularly tested, it only makes sense for us to contribute to the preservation of our "backyard" - the beautiful Lake Geneva.
  • DOPE DYED YARN This process of coloring yarn saves huge amourts of water while reducing energy consumption and water pollution💧 70% Less Chemical 🚫 95% Less Water 💦 60% Less Energy 💡

  • SOLVENT FREE GLUE 😊 We use water-based glue, eliminating harmful and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) 🌿
  • Epp foam. It is a multi shock foam, meaning you don’t have to change your helmet after the first impact.

  • Expandable polypropylene is 100% recyclable. It can be added to the production process of new packaging or insulation elements (only on WIPPER 2.0 and WIFLEX).

  • Recycled material. All our plastic parts (divider, fit systems) are made with 10 to 15% recycled materials.

  • Durability. Our products are designed to be long lasting, we provide spare padding to change in your helmets when they are very dirty or worn, so you can enjoy your protection as long as possible. This is essential in order to reduce the overall environmental impact of the product!

  • All our neopren suits are now using Water based glue and the dying of the fabrics is made with new technology saving up to 25% of water, reducing waist and carbon footprint.
  • Cardboard box: WIP helmets are presented in a box made from recycled materials.

  • Protective bag. The plastic bag is the easiest way to protect products, but it is also a very polluting solution. We replace it by biodegradable materials.
  • 0% plane. We do not use airfreight to send these bulky products.

  • 100% maritime transport. A ton of goods transported by water emits an average of 4 times less co2 than road, about 40 times less than flying. Ships co2/other emission are emitted far from people, in the middle of the sea where it tends to cause less damage. Of course, we are also working at producing our products closer of where they are used, in Europe or North America.
  • It is very important to think from the start how a product will finish at it’s end of life.

  • Recycling. We explain what are the actions to take to facilitate the recycling
process in an efficient way. This is clearly indicated on our eco friendly packaging.
  • Production Recycle
