49ER, 49ER FX, NACRA 17 CHAMPIONSHIPS
What’s New in the WIP team ?
From October 7–12, 2025 in Cagliari (Sardinia), the combined 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 World Championships brought together 176 teams and delivered a spectacular week of racing, with steady breeze, long swell, and a technical racecourse that pushed crews to the limit, with WIP as an event partner. In a highly competitive fleet, our Belgian duo Isaura Maenhaut & Anouk Geurts sailed a solid regatta to finish 12th in 49erFX, competing in Lowcuff Booties 2.0.

Meanwhile, Argentina’s Mateo Majdalani & Eugenia Bosco delivered a strong gold-fleet campaign to place 5th in Nacra 17, just shy of the final Medal Series shootout, racing in the Neo Long John MK2, Light Vest, Long Sleeve Rashguard, and Race Tank Top. Titles were decided under a tightened finals format, with high-intensity showdowns rewarding speed, precise boat-handling, and smart risk management. It was a top-tier 2025 edition that confirmed Cagliari’s status as a major stage for modern Olympic sailing and validated the progression of our teams at a benchmark event. Also of note, Mattias Couts & Oscar Gunn finished 27th in 49er, both making their first appearance at this event.
Crozon Foil Festival
From October 14–19, 2025, the Crozon–Morgat peninsula in Finistère, Brittany hosted the Crozon Foil Festival, the new international format of France’s Foil Open. Over six days, the event featured Downwind Foil, Surf Foil, and Dock Start Pumping, turning the harbour at Morgat into a true foiling arena with packed crowds. In Dock Start Pumping, Tahitian rider Alex (Axel) Pham won a spectacular final ahead of Jeffrey Spencer and Jarrod Snow, with Luke Atkinson finishing just off the podium.
Conditions combined a steady breeze and helpful swell, showcasing water reading, paddling power, and explosive acceleration off the dock, while the other disciplines alternated between offshore downwind speed and committed surfing in the bay. The result is a polished 2025 edition that firmly establishes Crozon as a major stop on the foiling calendar.
S3 event
On October 11, 2025 in Anglet, the 4th edition of S3 (Sauveteurs, Secouristes, Surfeurs) took place—a day dedicated to sharing best practices between rescue professionals, athletes, and practitioners—organized and founded by Julien Noguès and Gautier Garanx. Launched in 2022 following a notable rescue in Anglet, the S3 project is structured around a morning of classroom theory and an afternoon of at-sea scenarios: demonstrations, procedure workshops, refreshers on life-saving actions (including first aid and CPR), coordination between big-wave surfing and coastal rescue, and feedback sessions. The 2025 edition reaffirmed the event’s educational and operational focus, designed “by and for” the field, with active participation from the local surf and rescue community. WIP is a partner of S3, and on the water Julien Noguès and Gautier Garanx wore the X-Over Visor and the 50N Impact Vest, underscoring the importance of appropriate equipment in prevention and risk management.
FRENCH CHAMPIONCHIP
From October 18–23, 2025 in Leucate La Franqui, the French Extreme Glisse Kiteboard and Wingfoil ran with tramontane blowing at times, short chop, and fast runs, but also two no wind days that slowed the program. In women’s wingfoil, seven races were completed and Vaina Picot, 15 years old, won the French title. She raced with the seniors all week and came out on top in a very strong fleet, just days after taking vice world champion in Cagliari.
In the youth division, Sacha, 15 years old, became French wingfoil champion 13 to 17. His result came from steady sailing and good starts. He read the water well, kept his jibes clean despite the chop, and held speed on the reaching legs. After the windless days, he came back strong when the tramontane returned, choosing the right lines and gear for the stronger conditions. He secured the overall in the final sessions with solid heats and calm handling of the start procedures.
